I’m Kate, an experienced and passionate storyteller based in the North West of England. But I’m not only that. I’m a mother, a wife, a friend, a daughter, a sister. The person who wipes small noses and holds tiny hands.

I love documenting real life. The big milestones and also all the little moments in between that make us who we are. Capturing special connections between family members, a look, a touch, going behind the scenes of small businesses and seeing the commitment and drive it takes to run something that you’re passionate about, capturing the emotions between newlyweds, the personal quirks and the mundane everyday which will in time fill us with nostalgia is so important to me.

More About Me

How do you work?

I have a relaxed approach to all styles of shoots. With gentle direction and minimal posing, I aim to put everyone at ease and let those natural, joyful moments shine through.

Before our shoot, we will get to know each other over a phone call, a coffee or via email. We’ll chat through your desired outcomes, I’ll tease out your passions and together we will build a shoot to tell your unique story. I try to capture you and those around you in the in-between moments, when you are off-guard and at ease. Doing the everyday stuff. That is where you find extraordinary in the ordinary.

What camera equipment do you use?

I fell in love with Canon in the early days but have recently switched to Sony Mirrorless for the capabilities. On all shoots I will have two camera bodies harnessed around me and an array of lenses. I use natural light, but do have a little booster with me for those darker corners.

I can also shoot on a lovely old film camera. Think gorgeous grain and nostalgia. Let me know if you’d like to incorporate this into your session.

Why do you love photography?

Ahh for all of the reasons I have waffled through above 🙂 There is something obsessively magical about uncovering and preserving moments and chapters for both myself and others. I never stop learning and experimenting, I’m forever on podcasts, looking up the latest trends and tutorials.

When did you start photography?

After gradually building the business up alongside a full time job and 2 young kids, I left my 9-5 job to follow my photography dream in 2019 . It has been the best decision I have ever made – YEP, even through 2020…and 2021!

Has your work been published?

My work has been published in print publications as well as online, most recently in Bloom & Folk, Parentfolk and This Detailed Life.

What I love outside of Photography.

A proper cup of tea.

The outdoors. Be it with work, family or friends, nature is my reset button. I’m drawn to adventures and experiences with those around me.

In the same breath, I love cosy days indoors too! Fire on, tea brewing. Family meals and board games.

Light, beautiful natural light. Morning sunrise, evening golden hour, harsh shadows and soft dappled light. I’m constantly observing all of it.

The art of just being with my children…and this has taken a while to master. We live an incredibly fast paced life and being able to take time out to really do nothing but be with each other is my overall goal. I chose to push forward with this business to not only fulfil my Photography dream but to allow myself more time with the family.

With a background in Textiles, Fashion and Design, I like to shop sustainably and small where possible – always on the hunt for vintage treasures and handmade goods. I love interiors, colour, fabrics and all things knitted.

Supporting the Community is hugely important to me. I aim to support as many local businesses, individuals and charity’s as I can along the way. We’re all in this together.
